Juan Lopez, Juana Martinez, Juana Esquivel and Reynaldo Ramos from Honduras are in California to inform the public of the repression they and others in their country face in trying to defend their rivers from mining companies that are destroying the resources communities near the Mountain Park of Botaderos in Tocoa need to survive. There are 31 people so far charged with crimes. They face years in jail if their appeals to drop prosecution fail. Shining a light on these injustices here in the U.S. is an important way of defending the Water Protectors and standing in solidarity with the Honduran people in their efforts to wrest justice from a corrupt, U.S. backed regime. One of these Water Protectors will speak in Santa Cruz Saturday, October 5. For more info please call 415-954-2763 or 415-272-6718. Translation provided.
