Upcoming Activist Events & Additional City Council Info

by Robert Norse (rnorse3 [at] hotmail.com)
City stonewalling on the issue of shutting down bathrooms to exclude homeless folks and inadequate and token campground facilities are the subject of some City Council chatter and activist direct action in the coming week. Also available for view now are claims against the City which the City refuses to put on its public website.

This flyer was distributed Monday night at the Red Church and gives the time and place for various upcoming events.

To review the staff report on the City's continued intention to deny access to Louden Nelson and City Hall bathrooms during daylight hours, go to http://scsire.cityofsantacruz.com/sirepub/mtgviewer.aspx?meetid=1173&doctype=AGENDA

Past stories on indybay are available at "Who Will Change City Council's Dirty Diapers at Louden Nelson and City Hall?" (https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2019/08/26/18825712.php)

ROSS CAMP COSTS vs RIVER ST. FEATHERBEDDING
For preliminary (if somewhat misleading) information on the alleged "costs" of the Ross camp. check out that agenda under the addendum " Expenses Related to Gateway/Ross Encampment Management and Closure 8/12/19 (CM FYI 248)"

The actual costs, compared to ridiculous and exhorbitant costs of the 1220 River St. Camp last year run by the City and this year run by the City, have yet to be clearly outlined. Ross served far more people, was done under far less restricted circumstances, and cost far less. It also forced the City to actually open up portapotty facilities--and some disabled-accessible ones at that.

CLAIMS DENIED PUBLIC VIEW
I only got the following information by filing a Public Records Act request which City Administrator/Clerk Bonnie Bush requires before releasing what should be routine public information.

The following website contains the actual claims made against the City including contact information for those wishing to reach the parties making those claims.: https://cityofsantacruz.sharefile.com/d-se039ea846ab4425a

Without this information, the public has no way of knowing what's really going on, since the summaries the staff provided are rarely helpful. Without that knowledge, presenting anything at the open interval before the Closed Session (where you're given a "generous" 2 minutes) is rather problematic.

Apologies for the late posting. Perhaps making this public will encourage Bonnie Bush to finally include Claims information on future Agenda packets which she has stubbornly refused to do for the last several years.
§Assistance for a Constipated City Council
by Robert Norse
dirty_diapers.pdf_600_.jpg
Yesterday some helpful citizens began direct action to aid a budget-strapped City government, unable to open bathrooms at this time because of "vandalism" and "illegal behavior". At last, a cost-effective answer to a nagging problem.

§Be Prepared! Don't Leave Home Without Protection.

Don't overburden Louden Nelson Supervisor Iseth Rae and her hard-working staff. Supply your own diaper when dogwalking or jumpbiking--and be sure to change regularly!

Developers and "law enforcement" need funds that would otherwise be foolishly expended on needless bathroom facilities. The "disposable solution" is the only answer!
