The city of Oakland was ground zero for the housing crisis.The collapse of Indy Mac Bank and the failure on the part of Lehman Brothers to correct the documentation before selling the securities to Fannies Mae in bundles of securities is what cause the Chinese government to threaten to liquidate their subprime mortgage holdings of $140 billion with Fannie Mae.
