This newly published book is a compelling account of pioneering electrical tradeswomen whose fight for affirmative action and against job harassment changed their workplace, their union, and their city. The book shows how tradeswomen built alliances with men of color, white male union members and office staff to change the culture of management abuse and life-threatening sexism and racism at Seattle City Light.

This groundbreaking history is not only fascinating and inspiring,it teaches us valuable lessons that can be applied in today’s labor struggles.

In the first session, the preface, introduction, and first chapter will be covered. Participants will learn how in 1970s Seattle, as the burgeoning affirmative action movement ignited, the city started a program to bring women into the male-dominated electrical trades.
