You’re invited to celebrate Earth Day at Negro Bar on April 13, one of five free open houses across California State Parks.
Through guided park explorations, music, arts and crafts, volunteer opportunities and much more, these family-friendly open houses will offer special activities and a new perspective on each park’s history, unique habitats, wildlife and recreation opportunities.
Come and experience preparations for expanding Negro Bar, Folsom Lake Recreational Area, managed by California State Parks Department. Join us build momentum to celebrate the 170th Anniversary of the establishment of the town Negro Bar, California in 1849.
8:00am: early morning bird walk
9:30am: a family investigation of Lake Natoma birds
9:00am-noon: nature photography hikes
10am-2pm: Earth science projects, arts and crafts booths that highlight regional community organizations.
Come and join our preparations for the 170th Anniversary of Negro Bar, Slavery in California, "Hidden Figures" of the Underground Railroad to Freedom and the Black Church in the California Gold Rush Era.
