Time:
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Event Type:
Screening

Location Details:
Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists’ Hall

Join Slow Food East Bay and Transition Berkeley to delve into the prickly questions involved in raising livestock for food. The truth is - people eat meat. Instead of arguing that it shouldn’t be so, let’s talk about how to do it better. How we serve those needs and desires determines the welfare of many animals, the health of the planet and ourselves. Is there such a thing as ‘humane meat’? Can a small group of dedicated farmers change the agricultural industry? How can we encourage people to eat less, but better quality, meat? Start at 6pm with a potluck demonstrating Slow Food values of Good Clean and Fair, then watch “Eating Animals”, a documentary by Jonathan Safran Foer and Natalie Portman. After, hear from & ask questions of a panel made up of both omnivorous and plant-based guests, all involved in the good food movement from the production to the policy side.

Sponsored by Slow Food East Bay,Transition Berkeley and BFUU Social Justice Committee.
