Oakland: Protest Against Kamala Harris for President Campaign Launch Rally
Date Sunday January 27

Event Type Protest

Kamala Harris for President has chosen Oakland for her initial Campaign Launch Rally on January 27, 12:00pm.

What are you going to do, Oakland, when Kamala Harris sets up shop in our town to push her phony "progressive prosecutor" schtick? Her campaign slogan at this point is "Kamala Harris for the People," but we know she is anything but a candidate for the people, all of the people, those who lost their homes to predatory banks, for instance. She claims to be "tough, principled, fearless," but we know none of that is true. She's certainly not tough on the wealthy and powerful. She's just another ambitious corpocrat trying to pretend she's further to the left than she's ever actually been.

She's pitching herself as "a lifelong public safety and civil rights leader" and it's time we stand up to say, "hell no." Jailing people of color does not equal public safety and prosecutors violating defendants' rights is not civil rights. Among the early staff members she has chosen include her sister Maya Harris, who was a senior adviser to Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign. We don't need any more establishment democrats, and definitely not in prosecutor's clothing.

Her main campaign headquarters will be in Baltimore, but her West Coast operations will be run out of Oakland. Let's literally run her out of Oakland by not letting her peddle her lies here unchallenged. She doesn't get to claim her record has been "taking on the Wall Street Banks for middle-class homeowners" without being mocked in public.

This is not a listing for an organized protest at the campaign kick-off rally, but a call for concerned citizens and organizations to make plans to resist her campaign, starting at the very first event. Bare minimum, show up on January 27 with signs and literature to let Kamala stans know how unacceptable this cop is as a presidential candidate. Let her followers on social media know the truth when she spews lies.

When you see photographs of Harris laughing, remember she's laughing at you, especially if you fall for her liberal claptrap.

Kamala Harris' 2020 Presidential Campaign is the Democrats' usual campaign game of playing the color card since the Democrats must have the black vote to win the presidency. The US Congress, Democrats and Republicans together, proudly give about $4 billion of our tax dollars annually to fascist Israel to torture and murder Palestinians and steal Palestinian land. Her history in singing the company tune of the Democrat and Republican Parties on Israel may be found in the following, for starters, and we can be sure there will be much more to come:

“As Democrats Shift Left on Palestine, 2020 Contender Kamala Harris Gives Off-The-Record Address to AIPAC” by Zaid Jilani, 3/7/18 at

“By Clasping Hands with Netanyahu, Sen. Kamala Harris Reveals Herself As Just Another ‘Progressive Except for Palestine’” by Hamzah Raza, 12/2017 at

“5 Jewish Things to Know About Kamala Harris” by Ron Kampeas, 1/11/19 at
“Harris also co-sponsored a Senate resolution in early 2017 that essentially rebuked the Obama administration for allowing through a U.S. Security Council resolution condemning Israel’s settlement policies.”

“She supported the Iran nuclear deal, although she was not a senator in 2015 when Congress voted on it, and is on the record opposing the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement targeting Israel.”

The moniker for district attorney and attorney general is "sending poor people to jail" and Kamala Harris lived up to that title by attempting to jail mothers of children who did not show up for school. See

We see this scenario in every presidential election and it is time it end. You cannot claim to be fighting for change and support the Democrat-Republican Party, both pro-Israel, pro-war and pro-police state. When you vote for evil, you get evil. There is no such thing as lesser evil. You will feel a lot better about yourself and your future if you take that step to registering for either of the only 2 parties that are pro-Palestinian, anti-war and anti-police state: Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party. What makes a party and a candidate viable is their platform and their votes if they hold a political position. Just remember, Nazi Trump was a lifelong Democrat who only recently became a Republican and his position on Israel and on the war machine is the same as the Democrats' position. In fact, the US Congress, Democrats and Republicans together, gave Trump more than he asked for to perpetrate the war machine. Remember, we cannot have guns and butter.

The city is closing off a bunch of streets

Post Date: Jan 25, 2019

Please note that this is not a City event; it is privately organized and permitted by the candidate’s campaign. Any time a large, permitted public event that draws thousands of visitors to our public spaces is held in Oakland, the City’s role is to facilitate safe vehicle and pedestrian access on our City streets and public spaces, and to reduce the impacts associated with those crowds on our businesses and neighborhoods.

Details regarding set-up logistics, street closures, and Plaza access restrictions over the weekend are detailed below.

Doors will open at 12 noon on Sunday, and the rally is scheduled to begin at 12:45 pm. The public entrance is at the corner of 14th & Broadway.

Saturday Set-up:

Staging, sound systems, LED screens, bike barricades, and other rally elements will be built in and around the plaza.
No street closures or blockage to the neighboring businesses, including the Plaza retailers, until 5 pm.
At 5 pm, 14th Street will be closed from Broadway to Clay Street.

Sunday Street Closures and Restrictions:

Additional streets will be closed to prepare for the rally starting at 7 am:
Broadway from 12th to 17th streets—partial closure until 10 am, then full closure
Telegraph from 15th to 17th streets
Clay St. from 14th to 17th streets
14th Street from Franklin to Jefferson
15th Street from Franklin to Broadway
San Pablo Avenue from 17th to the Plaza entrance

Streets will remain closed until approximately 4 pm

On Sunday morning:
Plaza access will be restricted. Rally attendees will be directed to security bag-check stations to enter the secured zone
No pedestrian traffic will be allowed down 14th Street from Broadway to Jefferson Street
City Center garage: enter only from 11th Street (14th St. entry will be closed)
