Department of Pesticide Regulation finds illegal pesticides on our food

by Sarait Martinez (sarait [at] pesticidereform.org)
“DPR’s study indicates that on average, Californians can expect to eat a piece of poison on our plates once a week, due to pesticide residues. That’s an unacceptable gamble, if you’re eating non-organic produce,” said Mark Weller, Co-Director of Californians for Pesticide Reform.

Department of Pesticide Regulation finds illegal pesticides on our food at a rate equivalent to once a week in a Californian’s diet
Claims that rate is “low”

Once again, the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) has released its annual study of pesticide residues on food (2017 data); once again it found illegal pesticide amounts on more than 4% of tested produce; and once again, DPR says that is a “low” figure. The headline of this year’s press release, “Tests Show Low or No Pesticide Levels in Most Fruits and Vegetables in California” is exactly the same as last year’s, as well as the 4% illegal sample rate.

DPR appears to assume Californians will not do the math: 4% is 1 in 25. If we eat our 5-A-Day recommended daily allowance of fruits and vegetables, we’ll have 25 helpings of produce in just 5 days.

Organic produce tested at 1% illegal pesticide levels with a much smaller sample size (288 of the 3,695 samples were organic produce).

Brain-harming chlorpyrifos residues were detected on 2.4% (88 of 3695) of all the samples and was the pesticide with the second highest number of illegal samples (12). Had the Trump Administration followed the US EPA scientists’ recommendation to effectively ban chlorpyrifos in 2016, all of the chlorpyrifos residues would have been considered illegal.

In total, 59% of tested fruit & vegetables had detectable pesticide residues.

Of the 30 illegal samples from California sources, 3 came from Monterey County.

-Californians for Pesticide Reform is a diverse, statewide coalition of 200 member groups working to strengthen pesticide policies in California to protect public health and the environment. Member groups include public and children's health advocates, clean air and water groups, health practitioners, environmental justice groups, labor, education, farmers and sustainable agriculture advocates from across the state.

After the illegal aggressive war on the people of Vietnam there was a large surplus of chemical war weapons. Somehow they planned to name change them and dump three distinct war chemicals on Canada at the expense of the peoples Public Treasury, and hatched a whole Canada agenda for poisoning our public right-of-ways such as railway, hydro, and public hi-ways from coast to coast. Big Money was backing the drop.
The Canadian state unfortunately went along with the plan and issued license to them to do so. Where was Canadian security then when we needed them. They were issuing public license to do so. The U.S. agents were there lying that U.S. army chemical warfare weapons drops on Indo-China was portrayed in Canada as actually herbicides and pesticides to clean out right of ways across Canada.

The people across Canada were on a loss for what to do, because the media was backing the legaletti of a deliberate war crime against Canada and its freedom and independence.

It took a matter of three years of vast organizing amongst the peole and get the railway workers to strike saying we will not work in chemical poison areas, then also the native people arrived at no tolerance of poisoning our lands and right-of-ways. They warned that they would blow them poisoners away.
Then the Farmers went and beat them out of the right-of-ways and yelled 'never come back or else worst will befall you'. Then in all surprise the teachers, librarians, and woman's liberation Canadians forbid by law poison drops on all lands effecting the nation's health. This was along with medical profession and the national medicare program forbidding poisons of the ecological balances of the organic and inorganic webs-of-life on Canadian soil or world wide where chemical warfare is made illegal by the Charter of the United Nations which says the CHARTER forms to United Nations to make war just a long distant memory for the coming generations.

Quite a fully justified fight against U.S. Chemical Aggression by the Canadian people who in the name of the first Canadian Division and the need for organic food says; we fight to end wars of aggression as any nations foreign policy, and not to win wars of aggression but to end all exploitation and aggressive war forever. Workers of the world unite!! Elect women equally doubling democracy so joy and harmony can return to the natural man and woman question. You all yet have a world to win.
