DEMILITARIZE AND DECOLONIZE THE PACIFIC! We call for an end to U.S. and JPN hypermilitarism!
On December 14th, despite majority local opposition, the Japanese central government with the support of the U.S. military, renewed construction for a new base in Henoko, Okinawa. This phase of construction began by filling in ocean with sediment as part of irreversible land reclamation work in the ecologically rich Oura Bay.
This is a clear example of indigenous Unchinanchu repression, US/Japan hypermilitarism, environmental destruction, and a usurpation of the democratic rights of the people of Okinawa. We are outraged by this violation, and refuse to remain complacent as national governments wreak havoc on the people and the planet.
For folks in the San Francisco Bay Area, join us on the International Day of Solidarity for Okinawa to mount pressure on both the Abe and Trump administrations to stop construction of the base in Henoko and end neo-imperialism in Okinawa!
Met in front of the Consulate-General of Japan at 275 Battery Street to say NO NEW BASE IN HENOKO!
