Fight Racist Attacks Against SF City Employees And All Working People
Commemoration of Juneteenth At San Francisco City Hall
Stop Systemic Racism and Workplace Bullying At City and County Of San Francisco And All Work Location and the Community
Tuesday June 19th 11:30 AM-1:00 PM
Juneteenth commemorates the June 19, 1865, announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas, and the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans throughout the former Confederacy of the southern United States. Today in the United States over 153 years later, there is an explosion of racist attacks on African Americans including hanging noose incidents and systemic racist discrimination not only in private jobs but in public institutions like and city and county of San Francico, DPH and the SFUSD. The open racist hysteria being whipped up by the Trump administration is spilling over to every community and work location in the United States as African American, Latinos, Asians and immigrants are being targeted and terrorized.
The fight against racist discrimination is not just an issue for African American workers but all working people and racism which is a cancer must be exposed fought and eliminated. The privatization and public services is also part parcel of of the union busting and racism that all working people face
The San Francisco Labor Council has spoken out against the systemic racism and discrimination in the City and County of San Francisco and for the return of SEIU 1021 Potrero Hill Health Center member Cheryl Thornton to her job and this issue will be addressed by the rally as well as the treatment of African American and Latino by the San Francisco police department and other work locations.

The continuing killings and lack of prosecution for these deaths must stop and is part and parcel of the what African American people face in San Francisco and the bay area. This is also the 50th anniversary of the San Francisco State Strike which took place for the right of people of color to learn about their history and open admissions and the right of all young people to attend our public colleges. This is now threatened as well.
Please join us and speak out for human rights, justice and against workplace bullying and harassment on the job.

Speak Out Against Racism in SF City Departments
Public · Hosted by SEIU Local 1021
Tuesday, June 19 at 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
San Francisco City Hall
Join SEIU 1021 members, allies, and community activists on Juneteeth to condemn racist and discriminatory practices in City departments.
Workers across the City have spoken out about unfair treatment and unnecessary disciplines against their coworkers and the disproportionate targeting of African American workers. They’ve spoken out about the lack of diversity in some departments, citing that certain ethnicities are hired for particular job types based on racial stereotypes. Others have seen the disproportionate number of African American workers threatened with separation from probation if they did not agree to extend their probation period. We’re demanding an end to these threats and unfair treatment.
Racism and discrimination have no place in our city. That’s why Supervisor Jane Kim has introduced a resolution, co-sponsored by Mayor-Elect London Breed and Supervisor Aaron Peskin, calling for a hearing to get to the systemic issues leading to the unfair treatment of workers of color. Show that you stand against injustice, hate, and ignorance and join us at this action.
