East Bay Meeting: West Virgina, Arizona & Kentucky Teachers On Their Strikes & The Lessons

In Oakland, teachers from W. Virginia, Arizona and Kentucky talked about their rebellion, strike and how they organized it.

Teachers from W. Virginia, Arizona and Kentucky spoke at a forum in Oakland, California on how they organized their strike, the issues that they faced and how they are organizing now. They also discussed the use of communication technology through social media to bring teachers and supporters of public education together and organize them for action.

Teachers from Louisville, Kentucky also discussed the racist attacks on African American students and how that has affected them and the need for the unions to unite with communities against the systemic racism.
The meeting sponsored by the OEA, UESF, UTR, Peralta Federation of Teachers and was held on June 9, 2018.
