CWA NABET 51 KQED workers rallied on May 23, 2018 at the San Francisco Galleria fund raiser for KQED to protest the union busting tactics and their fight against outsourcing.
They have been without a contract for over a year and the company has sent out an email to all union members encouraging them to resign from the union so they can cross the picket line if there is a strike. There has been no strike vote by the union as of yet.
The station has a budget of over $70 million and is no longer interested in doing community television. According to the union when the government gave management an opportunity
to sell the broadcast channel that delivers programming to over 3 million people in San Jose and the southern areas KQED sold it for $95.4 Million.

KQED NABET 51 workers talked about the refusal of the management to do more local community tv programming. Besides fundraising by KQED there is very little local tv production despite a budget of over $70 million. They also want to outsource local media productions.
