On April 29th the next Oakland Green Party “Dinner & Movie Discussion Night” (always held on the “Last Sundays” of every month) will present “Capitalism: A Love Story” (2009) – an American documentary film directed, written by, and starring Michael Moore. The film centers on the late financial crisis, while putting forward an indictment of the current corrupt rule of the private banks and of unfettered free market capitalism. Topics covered include Wall Street’s “casino mentality,” for-profit prisons, Goldman Sachs’ political influence, the poverty-level wages of many workers, the large number of home foreclosures, corporate-owned life insurance policies, and the consequences of “runaway greed.” As usual, the door at the It’s Your Move Games and Hobbies store in Oakland's historic Temescal District will open at 6:30 p.m., a free dinner will be served at 7 p.m., and the movie will start promptly at 7:30 p.m.
