SF mayoral candidate Leon Phat heads up a walking tour through downtown SF chronicling a number of social movements en route to discovering a common theme, namely the objective on the part of the oppressed to generate security in geography.
What legislation would secure security for the homeless, the low wage worker, the marginalized?
Leon Phat thinks he's found it in Land Value Taxation. That's the collection by society of the annual value of "location, location, location."
You know land values are (as they have been) moving upwards in the Bay Region. Phat identifies those rising values as community property, and proposes legislation aggressively moving to recover land values . . . and simultaneously reduce the sales tax.
FREE. Numerous prizes for attending.
