Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice
Updates on the Bayview Hunters Point Environmental and Climate Justice Struggles Against Pollution and Gentrification
with Brian Butler, Sheridan Enomoto, and Bradley Angel

Greenaction will update us on the latest developments in the fight to Save Bayview Hunters Point from Pollution, Rising Sea Levels, and Gentrification, and discuss how we can work together to escalate this fight for justice. Updates will include the ongoing battle with the US EPA, Navy, City, state agencies and Lennar/Five Points to force a better cleanup of radioactive and toxic waste at the Hunters Point Shipyard; recent actions at the Lennar/Five Points upscale "Shipyard" development that is gentrifying the community; the challenge to the proposed BUILD LLC upscale development proposed at India Basin; and the Bayview Hunters Point Environmental Justice Task Force.

Brian Butler: Community Organizer/Policy Advocate is a native Californian from a family of hard working and dedicated social justice activists, with a BA in Sociology and Mechanical Engineering from CAL Berkeley and an MA in Social Work from Howard University. Brian has over 15 years of community organizing experience.

Sheridan Enomoto: Climate and Environmental Justice Community Organizer/Policy Advocate is from the Village of Yaangna or Los Angeles in Tongva Lands and resides in Ohlone Lands in the Village of Huichin (Emeryville/Oakland). She is a supporter and practitioner of traditional ecological knowledge and watershed restoration. She has Native Hawaiian and African American ancestral roots with a variety of experiences rich in Indigenous Activism, creative expression, mentorship, and community advocacy.

Bradley Angel, Executive Director. In 1997, Bradley joined with grassroots urban, rural and indigenous community leaders from California and Arizona to form Greenaction. For 30 years, Bradley has been a local and national leader in the environmental health and justice movement and has helped communities win some of the most significant victories in the history of the environmental justice movement. Bradley co-founded and helps coordinate the Bayview Hunters Point Environmental Justice Response Task Force, part of the statewide IVAN network (Identifying Violations Affecting Neighborhoods). Bradley serves on the steering committees of the California Environmental Justice Coalition, Bay Area Environmental Health Collaborative and the California Clean Freight Coalition.

Please watch Lennar in this. I and many others have seen first-hand what this kind of land does to structure and health and how Lennar tries to bury it. Please keep them accountable. Do not let this happen to you : https://mylennarhome.com/westshore-yacht-club-land-was-used-to-build-nuclear-plant-components

This looks like a good forum an the note about "respectful dialogue" is welcome and smart -- and hope it works in practice. My book, Building Powerful Community Organizations, might be a useful too for what you are doing.
