Bay Area Women in Black invites you to our annual “Black Friday” march and silent vigil in San Francisco’s Union Square, on the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 24, 2017 from noon - 1:00. Meet at Powell St. BART at 11:45.
“Black Friday” is the most profitable shopping day of the year in the US. The purpose of our event is to tell holiday shoppers about products that promote the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements in Palestine and the persecution and displacement of Palestinians. We also encourage shoppers to ask their elected representatives to halt the extravagant US military aid to Israel that enables its illegal and vicious occupation of Palestine.
Please dress in black. Signs will be provided but please bring your own if you wish. Please do not bring messages that are racist, sexist, or promote violence in any way. Let us know if you are willing to wear a "puppet." SFPD will escort us in response to past threats of violence.
