Has the arrival of Donald Trump in the White House set the United States on a collision course with Russia? Trump’s apparently friendly relationship with Vladimir Putin seems to have triggered a revival of anti-Russian sentiment among Democrats, including liberals and even some progressives. They see Russia’s alleged interference in the US elections and its takeover of the Crimea from Ukraine as signs of a new expansionism that the US must bravely resist. But is there another side to the story? At our October Forum, which commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, two international relations experts will explore this complicated situation and offer some perspectives on how to understand it in historical context.

Speakers:

Anthony D’Agostino, Professor of History at San Francisco State University, specializes in the history of world politics, mainly war and peace issues among the great states.

George Wright, Professor Emeritus, formerly on the faculty of the Political Science Department at California State University, Chico.
