Thousands March in SF to Defend DACA

Several thousand people marched through San Francisco on September 5 for immigrant rights. They started streaming into the Federal Building plaza in the late afternoon to protest Trump’s decision to quickly phase out DACA, an executive order that had protected children and young adults who were brought to the U.S. by their undocumented immigrant parents.

The rally attendees shut down traffic on Seventh Street between Mission and Market streets and beyond. Speeches blasted from a loudspeaker from the back of a flatbed truck. The march through the city after the rally created traffic jams alerting tourists and residents alike to the dire nature of the issue.
