San Quintín Day Laborers Reject Renegotiation of North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) between Canada, United States and Mexico and call for an International Global Action to Boycott the products of Transnational Driscoll's

The San Quintín Day laborers call for an International Action this August 16 in rejection of the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and to continue promoting the Boycott to the transnational company Driscoll's that since 2015 has not respected The 14 agreements that were signed in several minutes with the representation of Agricultural Businessmen and the Federal Government and therefore the Day laborers do not currently enjoy decent wages, bonuses, utilities and any type of labor benefit, on the contrary, are followed Violating human rights in all companies in the region by not having optimal conditions at work and not having social security.
"The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) represents for the Daily Labor sector a secret negotiation between Trump and the Mexican Government where we are excluded from the democratic unions of the agricultural sector of this country and, of course, the workers we represent. For years we have been forced to migrate to the United States under the same conditions and low wages in Baja California and many of our men and women have been deported and others have died at the border boundaries for trying to find better wages and Living conditions, now has been implemented the program "guest workers" formerly called "Bracero workers" where we have been contracted for the United States on many occasions without medical care and without sufficient work through the company Berrymex subsidiary of the transnational Driscoll's are still taking the workers to continue exploiting them from that side in addition that Driscoll's never attended the dialogue tables in 2015 and to date has not lent itself to talk with us. "Commented Fidel Sánchez Gabriel Vocero de los Jorneros de San Quintín.
"The situation in San Quintin is now more critical than in 2015 when thousands of day laborers and day laborers demanded a fair wage and a decent life in the streets, conditions have not changed, salaries have slightly increased, but in the same way Driscoll's company has increased the workload to double as well as the retaliation taken by the company by unjustifiably dismissing its workers who have years of work without giving them the corresponding withdrawal as established by our own federal labor law. "Added Sánchez Gabriel.
FLOC, AFL-CIO, Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA), Workers For Action The Organizer, and major cities in the United States: New York, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Washington DC, Sacramento , San Diego, Chicago, San Francisco, Watsonville, Oxnard, among others, and in Mexico: Mexico City, Tijuana, Mexicali, and Guadalajara that have joined the call of the Workers of the field to continue pressing this large transnational company that after 2015 The only thing that has made the day laborers is to retaliate for trying to organize in their union; The Independent Democratic National Union of Agricultural Day laborers formed since November 2015.

"Cancel NAFTA! Resolution To Support Workers In Mexico, USA, and Canada"

Whereas, President Trump made a campaign promise to scrap NAFTA, and

Whereas, the Trump administration has said that the Mexican people are responsible for the failure of NAFTA, and the US will renegotiate NAFTA allowing US multi-nationals and businesses to expand, exploit, and renegotiate this agreement without the input of unions, human rights environmental organization groups, and health and welfare coalitions to improve the agreement, rather the Trump administration will use this opportunity to further attack workers in Mexico, US, and Canada, and

Whereas, the same companies and multi-nationals that pushed NAFTA will be in charge of renegotiating NAFTA to benefit these same corporations and to further the expansion of the “Guest Workers” programs, and to further privatization and deregulation without the input of unions, and workers, and

Whereas, labor should support the unification of workers in Mexico, US, and Canada against the same multi-nationals and union busters that are weakening workers in the world, and the US labor force should call for the cancellation of NAFTA and for the nationalization of property and lands expropriated from the people of Mexico, and

Whereas, there is an attack on immigrant workers documented and undocumented in the United States and NAFTA has been used to pit US and Canadian workers against Mexican workers to benefit multi-national Corporations from the US and around the world, and

Whereas, the escalating attack on immigrant workers and people of color is a threat to all workers and organized labor in the United States, the immigrant community and their children in schools are being terrorized by ICE and the racist attacks on immigrants, and

Whereas, NAFTA has been used to privatize railroads, telecom, oil, education and the dismantling of Mexico's agricultural industry causing forced migration of 18 million people from their homelands in Mexico. The US and other multi-nationals Corporations have colluded with the Mexican government using NAFTA to prevent unionization at the 1500 maquiladora factories in Mexico, and

Whereas, the privatization of land has forced hundreds of thousands of indigenous people off their indigenous homeland as many as 80,000 farmworkers and their families forced to move outside their communities, towns, cities, and Northern states to find work often under horrible inhumane working conditions that are designed to enslave people/workers, like the Driscoll’s corporation in Baja, Mexico and other subsidiary farms, and

Whereas, the Trump administration is increasing the militarization of the border of the United States and Mexico that is dividing families and children from their parents, relatives, and grandparents who have not been in reachable contact in many cases over 20 years, and

Whereas, the Sacramento, California Central Labor Council has endorsed this resolution,

Therefore Be It Resolved, the US unions need to support full unionization of workers in Mexico and Canada by building direct worker-solidarity, by enforcing international strike-actions in US, Mexico, and Canada as all three countries are under attack, by the same multi-nationals, and

Be it Further Resolved, we oppose NAFTA being “reformed” to benefit global multi-nationals thieving off the poorest labor force in particular Mexico, US, and Canada no longer, and

Be It Further Resolved, UAW Local 551 calls for united solidarity action of workers in Mexico, United States, and Canada for the cancellation of NAFTA, and calls for an end to the massive ICE attacks on immigrant workers documented and undocumented in the US, and

Be It Further Resolved, UAW Local 551 calls for all unions, Labor Councils, the AFL-CIO, immigrant rights organizations, LGBTQ, environmental, women's, student, religious faith, Civil & human rights organizations to support this call and urge solidarity action on August 16, 2017 the day the Trump Administration starts NAFTA re-negotiation.
