In conjunction with Building Bridges, Not Walls exhibit, on Wednesday, July 26 at 6:00 p.m., the film Bridging Urban America will be shown at the San Francisco Main Library, Koret Auditorium, 100 Larkin Street (admission free). This 2016 film celebrates Ralph Modjeski, the chief consulting engineer for the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Modjeski designed bridges that had a significant impact on urban development and commerce. The film by Basia Myszynski and Leonard Myszynski is a tribute to innovative engineering and to bridge workers during two eras of transit. It takes a deeper look at the scientific mind and artistic soul of a Polish-born, Paris-trained immigrant who contributed to the building of a modern America. This today brings awareness about the deteriorating state of our bridges and how communities search for sustainable solutions to maintain, rehabilitate and preserve these critical parts of North America’s infrastructure. Come early and see the History Center exhibit on the library's 6th Floor.
