Sunday Morning at the Marxist Library
Attack on the U.S.S. Liberty
This month marks the 50th anniversary of the attack on the USS Liberty, an unarmed U.S. naval vessel which was intercepting communications at the height of the Six-Day War when it came under direct Israeli aerial and naval assault, leaving 34 Americans dead and 174 wounded. Arguably the worst attack in history against a noncombatant U.S. naval vessel, it remains shrouded in secrecy. Don Pageler, a survivor of the attack, will speak. Co-Sponsored by East Bay Vets for Peace,. For background, read the account by Ray McCovern in Common Dreams (2014) at: https://www.commondreams.org/views/2014/06/08/leaving-uss-liberty-crew-behind
