Not One More Dollar for Privatizer Beller And His Caliber High School Operation In WCCSD
Peloton Hedge Fund Bankrupt Operator Ron Beller and his wife Jennifer Moses were rejected for taking over the 8 acre Adams Middle School in Richmond for $60,000 for a privately run Caliber charter school. Now he is trying to get the school district to vote to support a Caliber Charter Highschool. This would likely lead to the shutdown of Richmond High and other WCCSD high schools.

On Beller Caliber Charter High School In Richmond
Former Peloton bankrupt hedge fund operator Ron Beller, his wife Jennifer Moses and their billionaire board including Fortress Investment owner Peter L. Briger, Jr. at Caliber Charter now want the WCCSD to approve a new high school in Richmond. This con artist never gives up.
He was setting up a charter at Adams Middle School even before it was voted on by the school board, and now he says he wants to build a new charter high school and has hired a principal Ernest Peterson. Peterson has a history with New Leaders and the Billionaire Gates Foundation which funding the Aspire school he worked at. He also was accused of abusing the students and having a high rate of expulsions at the Achievement First Hartford High School where Peterson was a principal.
While Beller and company want a new high school, public high schools in Richmond like Richmond High need repairs, supplies and more equipment. Why shouldn’t we support the schools we already have? How many high schools does Richmond need? A vote for this Beller Caliber charter is a vote to close down Richmond High and other public high schools in WCCSD. A vote for the Caliber High is a vote against the CalSTRS teacher pension fund. These multi-millionairs and billionaires don’t have to worry about pensions, but Beller and company voted to drop the CalSTRS pension for teachers and installed a 401K for the teachers.
His new high school, in fact, will not help public high schools but drain funds from the already needy public high schools. Beller has told the president of the UTR Demetrio that he wants to eliminate all public schools in Richmond, and he also told the president of the Mira Vista School PTA in Hilltop that he could show how to get hundreds of thousands of dollars for the school if the school became a parent run charter and bypassed the school district.
This huckster and charter school privatizer should be investigated for trying to push education advocates in Richmond to go private and charterize with increasing segregation that is being opposed by the NAACP and Black Lives Matter. He also should be investigated for having a conflict of interest since he owns stock in education technology that he wants to push in his publicly funded school including "blended learning" which takes away teachers and replaces them with computers profiting the tech industry and testing companies like Pearson.
Beller and his business operators need to be told to pack up and go back his million-dollar mansion in San Francisco with the rest of the billionaires. If he wants to help the schools, he should stop avoiding paying taxes on his business. He along with billionaires like Eli Broad, the Fisher family, the Walton Family that owns Walmart and Bill Gates are profiteering on education. California is 46th in school funding and the over 100 California billionaires fight any increase in their taxes which should be going to make public educa- tion the best in the world with high paid teachers along with staff and excellent schools.
