The first annual HerStory Empowers Awards is hosted by BWOPA/TILE is designed to recognize six highly driven and innovative Bay Area females under the age of 40 years old.
The community is invited to nominate their favorite social change agent. The award categories are Health | Education | Criminal Justice | Economic Security | Arts and Entertainment | Technology. The call for nominations deadline is June 20th.
Individuals who are eligible are under 40, a Bay Area resident, Black and female identified and a social-change agent.
Of the total nominations submitted, three (3) semi-finalists will be chosen in each category and publicized on June 22nd. Semi-finalists will be posted on Facebook and community friends are encouraged to participate in the selections process by voting. Finalists will be announced at the event. VIP tickets and sponsorship opportunities available.
BWOPA/TILE's mission is to activate, motivate, promote, support, and educate African-American women about the political process, encourage involvement, and to affirm our commitment to, and solving of, those problems affecting the African-American community.
Proceeds of this event will support the DWJ Public Policy Fellows Program.
