International Workers Day is a Call for Immigrant Rights/Better Housing Policies
May 1st, May Day, is traditionally celebrated as International Workers Day. In Mountain View, workers, their families and allies chose this day to call attention to the need for just and humane immigration reform and housing policies that do not disrupt family stability.
May 1st, May Day, is traditionally celebrated as International Workers Day. Mountain View workers, their families and allies held a march and rally to call attention to the need for just and humane immigration reform and housing policies that do not disrupt family stability.
Signs included "I am an important part of my community", "We don't want a wall", and "Justicia". Marchers walked on busy streets including El Camino Real to publicize their message. After the march, the Rengstorff Park rally raised spirits with speakers and music. Las Abuelitas Enojadas (the Raging Grannies) sang "When Donald Trump Shuts His Big Mouth" and other songs to cheers.
