Protest Donald Trump Speech at CA GOP Convention

Date:
Friday, April 29, 2016
Time:
11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Event Type:
Protest
Organizer/Author:
self
Location Details:
Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport, 1333 Bayshore Highway, Burlingame, California 94010. (Technically the address is in Burlingame but it's actually closer to the Millbrae BART/Caltrain station.)

Donald Trump is giving the Friday lunchtime speech at the California Republican Convention at 12 noon on April 29, at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport, 1333 Bayshore Hwy, Burlingame. (https://www.cagop.org/program/, http://www.mercurynews.com/politics-government/ci_29766967/donald-trump-bay-area-california-gop-convention). Various Facebook pages are devoted to individuals planning to attend and protest (https://www.facebook.com/events/1524102991231738/, https://www.facebook.com/events/147107885687000/), but so far there seem to be no protests scheduled by organized groups. How can this be?

This is likely Trump's only appearance in the Bay Area for all of this election season, so if you want to make your voice heard, this is the time!

I will be there protesting as an individual, arriving at 11am for the 12 noon speech, but I would like to be part of a larger social justice group, if any are planning to go. Please post all group protests here on IndyBay so that your numbers can swell with people like me who don't want to go alone!

The Bay Area has many groups who should be there in Trump's face. The national media will be on hand, expecting a Bay Area welcome. C'mon -- let's give it to them!

Donald Trump, a Democrat for most of his voting years, a Republican for a total of 8 years, is speaking at the California State Republican Convention in Burlingame on Friday, April 29, 2016, as a Republican candidate for president, with the same war and fascism agenda as the Democrats have since the Democrat-Republican Parties are the twin parties of war and fascism proudly supporting blood for oil wars abroad and the police state at home to maximize the profits of the capitalist class they both serve, leaving no money for domestic needs since we cannot have guns and butter.

Assuming 69 year old (turns 70 in June) Trump registered to vote at age 21 in 1967 (voting age was lowered to 18 in 1971), billionaire Trump was a Democrat from 1967 to 1987, then a Republican from 1987 to 1999, then a Reform Party (offshoot of the Republicans) member from 1999 to 2001, then a Democrat from 2001 to 2009, then a Republican from 2009 to 2011, then no party from 2011 to 2012, then Republican again from 2012 to the present. The paragraph on political affiliations provides more on Trump's support of Democrats, as follows:

"When asked in 2015 which recent president was best, Trump picked Democrat Bill Clinton over Republicans George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush.[211][212] The Clintons' foundation has received between $100,000 and $250,000 from Trump,[213] and they attended Trump's 2005 wedding reception.[214] Trump wrote in 2008 that Hillary Clinton would be a "great president or vice-president."[215]"

Billionaire Trump contributes to Democrats and Republicans. From
Donald Trump’s Donations to Democrats, Club for Growth’s Busy Day and More in Capital Eye Opener by Zachary Newkirk, 2/17/11 at
http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2011/02/donald-trumps-donations-to-democrats/

"According to a Center for Responsive Politics analysis of Trump’s federal campaign contribution history, The Donald has been a prolific donor to both Democrats and Republicans during the past two decades."

"In all, Trump has contributed to 96 candidates running for federal political office since the 1990 election cycle, the Center finds. Only 48 of the recipients — exactly half — were Republicans at the time they received their contribution, including ex-Gov. Charlie Crist (I-Fla.) and ex-Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.), who both of whom received their Trump contributions as Republicans."

"Since the 1990 election cycle, the top 10 recipients of Trump’s political contributions number six Democrats and four Republicans. Embattled Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.), who was censured last year by his U.S. House colleagues, has received the most Trump money, totaling $24,750. The most recent contribution from Trump to Rangel was a $10,000 gift during the 2006 election cycle. In the most recent election cycle, Trump doled out $22,500 to political candidates, of which $16,200 benefited Democrats."

“Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) is the recipient of $12,000 in Trump contributions, including $10,000 for his 2006 re-election campaign. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has received the fourth-largest amount of Trump’s contributions, including $4,800 in the successful 2010 campaign against Tea Party favorite Sharron Angle. In total Trump has contributed $10,400 to Reid.In 2010, Trump also contributed $4,000 to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who easily won re-election. Schumer has received $8,900 from Trump since the 1996 election cycle. Trump has also been generous to New York’s other Democratic U.S. senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, who’s received $5,850 in Trump money.”

“However, of the nearly $420,000 Trump has donated to committees, the largest recipient has been the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee with $116,000 — or more than one fourth of his total contributions to all party and political action committees.”

The Clinton Foundation has been a big beneficiary of Trump’s money. See “Clinton Foundation hangs on to donations from Donald Trump” by Daniel Strauss, 7/18/15 at
http://www.politico.com/story/2015/07/clinton-foundation-keeps-donations-from-donald-trump-119883
This article states:
“The Clinton Foundation has no plans to return tens of thousands of dollars in donations it received from Donald Trump — or at least none that it’s willing to share.”

“…Clinton Foundation, which still lists one “Donald J. Trump” on its website under the category of donors who have given between $100,000 and $250,000.”

Hillary Clinton, with her infamous womanizing husband, Bill Clinton (2 girlfriends while married to Hillary, Gennifer Flowers & Monica Lewinsky), went to the wedding of Donald Trump to wife No. 3 of womanizing Donald Trump in 2005 to fashion model Melania Knauss (now age 46, 24 years younger than Trump), (when Trump was 59, and by whom he has had his 5th child. You are a grandparent to any children born after you are age 35.) See

Instead of wasting time and accomplishing NOTHING while waving signs outside a Republican convention, please help us build the only two parties that can get rid of the reactionary Democrat-Republicans, namely Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party.
