Samaritan House held its first Main Event in 1992. This celebration of the incredible community, which comes together to support our neighbors in need, has grown into an elegant evening of silent and live auctions, a gourmet dinner, and dancing the night away. The 2016 Main Event, "A Night in Oz: There's No Place like Home!" will feature Master of Ceremonies and Emmy award-winning KTVU weekend news co-anchor, Heather Holmes. Festivities begin with a cocktail reception featuring wicked libations and a silent auction along the yellow brick road. Then, it's into the Emerald City for a gourmet dinner, live auction, and dancing to Pure Ecstasy, one of the Bay Area's hottest bands!

During dinner, we'll be honoring three outstanding individuals:
The Heart of Samaritan House Award
John Kelly, former Executive Director, Samaritan House
The Knowledge Award
Jerry Hill, California State Senator
The Courage Award
A Samaritan House client who moved from poverty to self-sufficiency

An estimated 160,000 people are currently living in poverty in San Mateo County. "A Night in Oz: There's No Place like Home!" will highlight Samaritan House's Housing Services, including homelessness prevention and our 90-bed homeless shelter, Safe Harbor Shelter. Last year, Safe Harbor Shelter provided 32,695 nights of safe, warm sleep to San Mateo County's homeless. The event will raise funds so that Samaritan House can continue to provide safe, warm sleep to those most vulnerable in our community and emergency assistance so those facing eviction can stay in their homes.

$150-$250.
