It's official: Racism, Bigotry and Hate are alive and well in Santa Cruz
Today the Beach Flats Neighborhood announced that the Guadalupe mural was vandalized and destroyed at Beach Flats Park in Santa Cruz.

It's official: Racism, Bigotry and Hate are alive and well in Santa Cruz.
In the early morning hours, the Guadalupe mural was vandalized and destroyed at Beach Flats Park. With this act of vandalism you have complete erasure of Latino culture in a public space.
Also, under the guise of "neighborhood improvement", the sign at Beach Flats Park was also damaged; the word "Flats" was painted over.
Beach Flats Park is not modern and some people thinks it sucks...that's because they do not see clearly, and they don't use it the way lots of kids in this neighborhood do.
You know who you are and we know why you did it. Don't hide behind diversity and neighborhood improvement.
City of Santa Cruz and parks and recreation with this act of vandalism of complete the breast leakage of Latin culture in public space in the city.

Esta madrugada, el meal de la Guadalupe en el Parque Beach Flats fue destruida. Con esta acto de vandalismo tenemos pie completo el borramiento de cultura Latina en un espacio publico en la ciudad de Santa Cruz.
Adicionalmenta, banjo el disfraz de "mejoramiento de vecindad" el rotulo con el nombre del parque tambien fue pintado. La palabra "Flats" fue eliminada.
El Parque Beach Beach Flats Park no es moderno y algunos piensan que no es bueno...pero eso esto prque no veen claramente, y no us an el Parque com lo usan los ninos en la playa.
Ustedes saben por que lo hicieron y queen es responsable. No de escondan bajo la palabra diversidad y mejoramiento de vecindad.

BEACH FLATS COMMUNITY FORUM - scheduled for this THURSDAY EVENING - details to follow soon. Last night another portion of the remaining Beach Flats mural -- the Virgin of Guadalupe -- was painted over and the Beach Flats Neighborhood sign was marred. The Santa Cruz Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation and City Leadership across several departments is taking this very seriously. We acknowledge the cultural significance of what has been lost and recognize the fear and frustration this generates. We appreciate those of you who have stepped forward and offered to help bring the neighborhood together to heal and to imagine new possibilities for the park and the mural. Again, thank you for your patience.

Really? Tell me ANOTHER lie. First they get rid of the community center, and the park follows. This is one way to make the park seem to be a public nuisance and put surveillance cameras all over the fucking place, and a cadre of security guards on duty to 'protect' it, and stalk people they don't like, and limit the park's usefulness, until it's paved over.
Their own punk kids did this. Perhaps the same middle class 20-somethings who ripped me off in the woods one night dressed like little punk ninjas, and when I confronted one in the act about stealing my ID, he said: "We're gonna check you out". Right. Because daddy, who works for the SCPD or security company affiliated with them, can do that.
