A Tale of 2 Statements on the US-Cuba diplomatic thaw
On July 1, the US and Cuban governments released respective statements regarding the re-opening of embassies in each other's capitals. But even a preliminary reading shows how US Imperialism has not learned any real lessons after 5 decades of failed "regime change" policies.
The letter sent by Cuban President Raul Castro stressed the importance of the UN principles of non-interference and peaceful resolutions of issues between sovereign states. On the other hand, US President Barack Obama's press statements deceitfully hid 50+ years of military and economic attacks on Cuba behind a facile "we can't be imprisoned by the past" spin. Moreover, Obama immediately followed by asserting that Washington will continue its thinly-veiled de-stabilizing(coyly named "democratizing")efforts on Cuban citizens. Nowhere in POTUS 44's public announcements did the WHO(White House Occupier)even obliquely refer to the illegal support of Miami-based terrorists--i.e., gusanos--to inflict civilian casualties; nor even admit the murderous economic embargo that have caused billions of dollars' worth of financial terrorism.
Hence, while the opening of the two embassies represent a clear-cut political and diplomatic victory by the indefatigable Cuban Revolution over an isolated but still Imperialistic Uncle Sam, the future is still clouded by the inability of the Wall Street-Pentagon ruling elite to sincerely follow UN Charter principles and international norms in relations between sovereign nation states. Only time will tell whether the once colonial master will truly learn to live peacefully in the community of civilized nations.

We have witnessed one horror after another from the Democrat-Republicans, including the current president. His contrived relations with Cuba publicity stunt can only be to win votes for Democrats. The goal is of course always to re-establish the horrors of capitalism in Cuba, which was a haven for organized crime before the 1959 Revolution, and as in the USA today, poverty was rampant.
