San Francisco is the place where the UN Charter was signed by 50 of the 51 “original member countries.” The Charter was signed inside San Francisco’s War Memorial and Performing Arts Center after the United Nations Conference on International Organization
The Charter was put into force in October 1945.
Text from the Preamble;
The Preamble to the treaty reads as follows:
We the peoples of the United Nations determined
• to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and
• to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of
nations large and small, and
• to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can
be maintained, and
• to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,
And for these ends
• to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbours, and
• to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, and
• to ensure, by the acceptance of principles and the institution of methods, that armed force shall not be used, save in the common
interest, and
• to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples,

To see reactionary, election-frauding, luxury real estate promoting Democratic Mayor Ed Lee and equally reactionary Democratic Governor Jerry Brown at this ceremony says it all about the realities of the world that is in direct contradiction to the ideals of the United Nations. It is hard to believe the Democrat-Republicans could sit there since they are proud members of the twin parties of war and fascism. The UN has been a cover for war, with the US war against Korea being the most notable in its early history (1950-1953), started by Democratic Pres Harry Truman. The world has been continuously at war since WW2, and the primary promoter of war has been the United States, Democrats and Republicans together, who proclaim they have no difference in foreign policy, which means they have no difference in domestic policy since we cannot have guns and butter. During the US war against Korea, in which 3 million Koreans, 1 million Chinese and 33,000 Americans were killed, the Korean people had to hide underground and in caves for 3 years to avoid American napalm and other terrible terrorist weapons. The US war against Vietnam was similar with 3 million dead Vietnamese, 1 million dead Cambodians, 58,000 dead Americans and thousands of other people slaughtered in this second attempt to invade China, which had a revolution in 1949, and in the continuous effort to maximize profits, the greatest profits being in munitions and oil, with the US military being the greatest user of both.
