Join us for an evening with Captain Charles Moore who will present his latest research on the North Pacific Gyre, home of the fastest-growing swirling vortex of plastic trash. After 15 years of voyages into the North Pacific Gyre, Captain Moore returns from his 2014 voyage with disturbing news- the magnitude of plastics is increasing approximately 10 fold every 10 years! Captain Moore will show video footage of the latest research voyage that reveals hundreds of times more plastic by weight than the associated zooplankton. A follow-up panel discussion with Captain Moore, leading plastic pollution experts, and the audience will consider how to solve the problem at home and through local, state, and national actions.

Featuring a Plastic Pollution Solution Panel with:
Miriam Gordon, California Director, Clean Water Action
Stiv Wilson, Campaigns Director, The Story of Stuff Project
Beth Terry, Author of "Plastic-Free: How I Kicked the Plastic Habit and How You Can Too"
