(UN)BRIDALED is the Bay Area premiere of a new dance theater experience created by award-winning choreographer, Marina Magalhães, and her collaborators. What makes the work exceptionally dynamic and unique is its seamless blend of Bossa Nova and Brazilian Funk music, Afro-Latin and Contemporary dance, and live song and interactive theater. It brings to life the deeply moving and hilariously defiant stories of women- brides, immigrants, and immigrant brides- at the precipice of change. Crossing borders of countries, relationship statuses, and their own notions of womanhood, the ferocious all-female cast of (UN)BRIDALED is honest, vibrant, and unapologetic. Together, they leave the audience wondering if borders aren’t, after all, meant to be crossed.
