Roque Dalton (1935-75) is the most known poet of El Salvador. Sentenced to death by the Salvadoran dictatorships because of his subversive activities, he managed to avoid his execution two times. He lived his exile in Mexico, Prague and Cuba. He started one of the first revolutionary guerrillas of his country and it was a faction of his own organization that killed him, in unclear circumstances even today.
