Oakland Police Release (Some) Video to Family of Yuvette Henderson After Community Pressure

by Anti Police-Terror Project
On Tuesday, April 21st, the Oakland Police Department conceded to the power of the people and allowed the brother and sister of Yuvette Henderson to review the videos leading up to her murder by Emervyille police.
The family left that meeting disappointed.

Upon arrival, we were told that there was no video of Yuvette's assault inside of ‪#‎HomeDepot‬ and that the DVD controlling the video at Extra Space Storage - where she was killed - was broken that day.

So the two most critical events of the day Yuvette was killed are conveniently not available for review.

What was carefully crafted together was video that lent credence to the cop’s story that Yuvette had a weapon. We believe their intention was to push the family of Yuvette into pacification. They attempted to present a case which – in their mind – would mean the family (and community) had no choice but to agree with the state that Yuvette had to be killed. That no other option existed other than to gun her down with an AR-15.

But the family isn't buying it and neither are we.

A week prior, a white man named Sebastian Ledwick fired actual shots at the police. He was “talked down” and taken into custody ALIVE.

And so it goes across the country.

If you are emotionally distraught and white, you get arrested and you go to jail. If you are emotionally distraught and Black, you go to the morgue.

We will continue to demand justice for Yuvette Henderson.

We will continue to demand an end to the use of military-style assault weapons by law enforcement.

We will continue to show her face & speak her name.
