Please join ReformCA and the California NORML for an important meeting to discuss the potential impact of a 2016 cannabis legalization ballot initiative on the existing cannabis community in California.
As ReformCA participates in future meetings to discuss ballot initiative language, we want to be sure that we are representing the interests of Californians from across the state -- especially patients, cooperatives, and other individuals who have been engaged in cannabis commerce in our great state. At this meeting, we will discuss the broad range of topics that a 2016 initiative will cover and seek input from residents who live in and around Santa Cruz. WHEN April 23, 2015 at 7pm - 9pm WHERE Freight Building at Depot Park 119 Center St Santa Cruz, CA 95060 RSVP at: http://www.reformca.com/santa_cruz_roundtable ![]()

§Draft: Elements for 2016 Initiative
We encourage you to read two documents ahead of time. The first sets out the key elements of a proposition as we see it. The second provides background on various issues that we must address when drafting a proposition. Both will be referenced during the event.

The 2016 initiative should legalize and regulate marijuana for adult use in a manner similar to Colorado or Oregon, with modifications and adjustments for California. In particular, regulations need to be structured to be compatible with California’s longstanding cultivation industry, including sun-grown. As in CO and OR, there should remain distinct distribution outlets for medical marijuana, with the existing rights of Prop 215 patients re-affirmed and if possible strengthened.
