by Penny Sweet
Celebrating 30 Years of Robotech!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Rebecca Forstadt, better known to longtime anime fans as 'Reba West', will be making a special appearance on SF Bay Area's popular independent radio show Lava Lamps & 8-Track Theatre. To speak about the 30th anniversary of Robotech, as well as her many appearances in anime and other television series!

Anime is a popular animation art style that was developed in Japan. Robotech is a classic TV show which first aired in 1985 in North America, and was shown on the now defunct SF Bay Area channel KBHK TV-44(now known as CW). Rebecca played the iconic anime character Lynn Minmei in the first part of the Robotech series. Three different anime series were used to form one singular storyline for Robotech. The first part of the series is called The Macross Saga(originally called Super Dimension Fortress Macross in Japan),while the second is called The Robotech Masters(originally called Super Dimension Calvary Southern Cross) and the third The New Generation(originally called Genesis Climber Mospeada). The 30th anniverary comes in time as Sony is in talks of developing a live action movie slated to be released very soon.

Robotech, along with Starblazers, paved the way for the popularity of anime in America and made it aware to the mainstream.

You can catch the interview this Sunday (4 PM to 7 PM PST) airing on Free Radio Santa Cruz on 101.3 FM and also streaming online.
