A French actress filming an anti-war film in Hiroshima has an affair with a married Japanese architect as they share their differing perspectives on war. Director: Alain Resnais Writer: Marguerite Duras Stars: Emmanuelle Riva, Eiji Okada, Stella Dassas 16mm/90min/B&W/French Language/English Subtitles It is the documentation of an intensely personal conversation between a French-Japanese couple about memory and forgetfulness. It was a major catalyst for the Nouvelle Vague (French New Wave), making highly innovative use of miniature flashbacks to create a uniquely nonlinear storyline.
