RAINOUT POSTPONEMENT! We are so very glad to see this stream of moisture flowing in over the ocean. However, rainfall means that in order to pay the greatest respect to the soil of our orchard site, as well as to the many planter-revelers who might prefer to do their planting-reveling in dry clothes, we've decided to delay this groundbreaking until the following SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 15 1pm. We'll look forward to seeing you then! Stay tuned for any more notices. Enjoy this weekend's rain!
All are welcomed to join Lower Ocean/Barson St. neighbors as we break ground and begin planting apples, pears, and lemons in the new city park!
On this Sunday, not only will we get down and dirty and plant a row of fruit trees for our community, but we will celebrate our interdependence as neighbors and our deep-seated connection to the fertile valley of the San Lorenzo River.
This project was organized by the Santa Cruz Fruit Tree Project, the Santa Cruz Community Food Forest initiative, and Barson St. neighbors, with the support of UCSC's Common Ground Center and City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation.
