Chinese activists detained for supporting Hong Kong protests

Amnesty International is aware of the following mainland Chinese activists and citizens that have been detained for peacefully expressing support for the Hong Kong pro-democracy protests.
In total, 93 people have been detained since the Hong Kong protests began on 26 September. 76 remain in detention as of 6 November 2014.

All those detained solely for exercising their right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly must be immediately and unconditionally released.

1. Jiang Liuyong (姜流勇), male, criminally detained on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking troubles” since 30 September 2014, currently detained at Fengtai Detention Centre in Beijing. Took part in the dinner on 29 September holding placards with slogans to support the Hong Kong protests.
2. Li Dongmei (李冬梅), female, criminally detained on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking troubles” since 30 September 2014, currently detained at Fengtai Detention Centre in Beijing. Took part in the dinner on 29 September holding placards with slogans to support the Hong Kong protests.
3. Guo Zhiying (郭志英), female, criminally detained on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking troubles” on 30 September 2014 at Fengtai Detention Centre in Beijing. Released on bail on 1 November 2014. Took part in the dinner on 29 September holding placards with slogans to support the Hong Kong protests.
4. Chen Lianhe (陈连和), male, criminally detained on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking troubles” on 30 September 2014 at Fengtai Detention Centre in Beijing. Released on bail on 1 November 2014. Took part in the dinner on 29 September holding placards with slogans to support the Hong Kong protests.
5. Wu Xiaoping (吴小平), female, criminally detained on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking troubles” on 30 September 2014 at Fengtai Detention Centre in Beijing. Released on bail on 1 November 2014. Took part in the dinner on 29 September holding placards with slogans to support the Hong Kong protests.
6. Han Suqing (韩淑清), female, criminally detained on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking troubles” on 30 September 2014 at Fengtai Detention Centre in Beijing.
