After much success in Europe, coming to Oakland, California on October 18, 2014: The First Feeding the 5000 in the United States!

We waste over 40% of our food while 80% of freshwater use and 33% of man-made emissions are due to our food system. And at the same time we waste, 1 in 6 in the U.S. (1 in 5 in Alameda County) are food insecure or do not know where their next meal is coming from at some point during the year.

Feeding the 5000 provides tasty solutions to this massive global food waste and hunger problem. EndFoodWaste.org is the Event Coordinator for this 100% FREE food waste awareness festival that includes:

•A meal for 5000 people on quality fresh food that would have otherwise been waste before it hit the stores - such "ugly" but tasty fruit and vegetables that did not meet supermarkets' strict cosmetic standards

•Grocery giveaways of hundreds of pounds of good tasty produce

•Keynote speeches - Already confirmed to speak: Tristram Stuart of Feeding5k.org, Dana Gunders of the Natural Resources Defense Council, Jonathan Bloom of WastedFood.com and; Robert Egger, Founder of DC Central Kitchen and now LA Kitchen

•A special presentation and tent/booth experience from Rob Greenfield of Food Waste Fiasco fame, among his many other environmental endeavors

•Presentations by Dana Frasz of Food Shift, People's Grocery, and St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County

•Chef demonstrations on how to combat food waste in your kitchen; getting creative with leftovers

•A panel discussion from top food waste experts from around the world

•Activities for every age to educate you and get you more acquainted with how to fight food waste and have a fun tasty time doing it!

•Music from DJ FACT.50

•And more!
