Saturday, 1 pm!
Sisters and brothers:
Five years the Bay Area Latin America Solidarity Coalition (BALASC) formed in response to the right-wing coup that took place June 28, 2009, and which overthrew the democratically-elected President Manuel Zelaya. The U.S. government continues to support a repressive government and its neoliberal economic policy. Hundreds of activists -- including LGBTQ, journalists and campesinos defending their land, have been murdered by death-squad type violence.
At the same time, the U.S. government has refused to recognize Nicolás Maduro as president of Venezuela, Instead, Washington is doing everything it can to undermine and destabilize the Maduro government. This is time to step up our efforts and say:
STOP THE VIOLENCE in Honduras, and
DEFEND THE BOLIVARIAN REVOLUTION in Venezuela
