by ernesto

Back in July of 2013, Governor Brown signed into law the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), which is suppose to be a more equitable way to funding public education in California. LCFF is generated by and suppose to help out low-income, English Language Learners and foster youth in CA public schools.

Since Fresno Unified has a large number of students that fit all 3 categories, in particular, low-income students, Fresno Unified is to receive a large sum. Per student from Fresno Unified the amount is expected to jump from about $6,638 to $11,722 by 2020.

Students, parents/guardians and teachers are expected to attend FUSD's school board meeting tomorrow, June 4th again. This meeting is especially important because the board is expected to vote on the districts budget plans for the next school year (2014-2015).
