Statewide Election: Oppose the 'corporate duopoly'!

Date:
Tuesday, June 03, 2014
Time:
7:30 AM - 7:30 PM
Event Type:
Other
Organizer/Author:
Location Details:
Find your polling place here: http://www.smartvoter.org/ (Note: The polls are actually open from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm. However (unfortunately), the IndyBay "form" doesn't allow us to specify those hours in the "Time" section of this notice).

For the statewide races, the best way to oppose the "corporate duopoly" is to vote for the Green and Peace & Freedom Party candidates. Unlike the Democrats and the Republicans, Green Party and the Peace & Freedom Party candidates do NOT take corporate money -- so they're not puppets of the corporations! And the more votes that the Green and Peace & Freedom candidates get, the more it will help us to move away from the "corporatocracy"!

For recommendations beyond the statewide races, please see: https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2014/05/12/18755681.php ; http://www.sfgreenparty.org/ ; and: http://www.peaceandfreedom2014.org/

In San Francisco, we have a major fight over real estate planning. Those of us who want affordable housing for the workingclass, those of us who sell our labor for less than $80,000 a year, are voting Yes on B. The website is:
http://www.nowallonthewaterfront.com/yes_on_b_video?splash=1

Peace & Freedom Party supports Proposition 42, an open government proposition. Every county has enough wealthy people who should be taxed. Statewide, we have 750,000 millionaire households whose income taxes can and should be raised to pay for everything. From P&F's website at
http://www.peaceandfreedom.org/home/
Yes on Proposition 42

Proposition 42 is a state constitutional amendment to require local government to provide open meetings and public records access. These basic democratic practices are currently state government mandates, which require reimbursement. In the last budget crisis these mandates were suspended, allegedly to allow the state to save the money otherwise spent on reimbursing local governments' costs of following the mandates.

We support Proposition 42. Openness in local governments shouldn't be conditional on state budget deals.

Please not only VOTE Peace & Freedom or Green for all offices, but also REGISTER Peace & Freedom or Green the day after the election or as soon as possible this year because that is the ONLY WAY Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party can stay on the ballot. Your vote is not enough, due to the reactionary Top Two law, Prop 14, passed in June 2010. Looking at the 15 day Report on Registration, dated May 19, 2014 at
http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/ror/ror-pages/15day-primary-2014/county.pdf
it appears that with only 109,674 or .62% for the Green Party and 78,345 or .44% for Peace & Freedom Party, both parties will be off the ballot in 2015. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS SINCE THERE ARE THREE MILLION, or exactly 3,749,215, 21.16% registered as No Party Preference. We know you prefer a party because you vote for candidates from parties.

In San Francisco, Barry Hermanson of the Green Party is running against millionaire fascist war criminal Democrat Nancy Pelosi who has been sitting in that office since 1987 promoting the reactionary policies of the Democrat-Republican Party. Because San Francisco Republicans are only about 17% of the vote, Hermanson, who has an excellent statement in the San Francisco voter handbook on page 22, has a chance to come in SECOND, PUTTING HIM ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT in the first serious race against Pelosi we have EVER seen. His website is
http://barryhermanson.nationbuilder.com/

In California, Cindy Sheehan, the Peace & Freedom Party candidate for governor, would also like to be SECOND so as to be one of the TOP TWO in November, but that is a little more difficult as Republicans are usually at least 40% of the voters. It would be a humdinger campaign if Cindy Sheehan ran against Democrat-Republican, viciously reactionary Jerry Brown. Cindy's website is http://www.cindy2014.org/

Your polling place is stated on the back of your County booklet, and the State of California has it at
http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/find-polling-place.htm
San Francisco's polling place lookup is at:
http://sfelections.org/tools/pollsite/

If you have voted absentee but have not yet turned it in, WALK YOUR BALLOT to your County Registrar Monday, June 2 or Tuesday, June 3 or to a polling place in your County on June 3. It is too late to mail any absentee ballot.

When you change your registration, you can register online at:
