The 16th Street Plaza belongs to the Community!. Help us celebrate our community and culture and a Plaza for the people. Join us before or after you celebrate at SF JUNETEENTH 2014! (http://sfjuneteenth.org/)Added to the calendar on Tuesday May 27th, 2014 5:14 PM
:::WHAT::: An all-day festival of music, arts, activities, food, family, friends and fun in the 16th and Mission Plaza. Bring yourselves, your creativity, ideas, arts, skills, and activities. Let us know what you would like to do and bring, and how you would like to participate! Lots of organizations, artists, performers, neighbors are signed on and the shape of this event will evolve in coming days as folks let us know how they would like to participate.
:::WHO::: You, me, and all of us who love our community in the Mission District and who want a 16th Street Plaza and neighborhood development that truly serve the community not merely the interests of real estate developers. Everyone is invited to participate.
::: WHEN::: Saturday, June 14th. Details TBA. Events will be happening throughout the day. From 1-4 PM we'll have a "main stage" with scheduled performances, but this will just be one piece of all-day festival that you and all of us will create.
::: WHY::: To celebrate our community and culture in our public space! We want a Plaza that reflects and serves the community in the Mission District and we will collectively work to envision, create, and fight for that Plaza, for our neighborhood, for and our city.
The community around the 16th/Mission Plaza needs affordable housing, not ten-story towers of luxury housing as has been proposed by Maximus Real Estate Partners. See Plaza16.org for more information.
:::WHERE::: Both corners of the 16th/Mission Plaza.
LOTS MORE INFO TO COME. Stay tuned for updates at Plaza16.org.
