National coverage of our campaign at Salon. (

The corporations that profit from their death want you to believe that the animals killed for food lived a beautiful life and died a peaceful death. But unfathomable brutality hides behind their closed doors and corporate masks.

This month, we will see that VIOLENCE UNMASKED.

Animal rights activists in 37 cities and 13 countries -- most recently, Chennai, India and Istanbul, Turkey -- have united under the banner "It's not Food. It's Violence" since our campaign started in October 2013. We have received media coverage in multiple cities. And the focus of our campaign in the United States -- Chipotle Mexican Grill -- has seen its 1000% stock growth slow to almost zero (, and closed down its largest SF location in response to our protest last month (

But we need your help -- whether at Chipotle or another place of violence -- to keep up the momentum. Join us this month as we once again demand an end to atrocities against innocent animals.

People go secretly into the store, with masks tucked away. At a pre-arranged signal, everyone will put on their masks and hold up placards that say "What is Chipotle hiding?" and "It's not Food. It's Violence." A few people will pass out postcards or leaflets. Afterwards, we will hold a demo with masks on outside of the store.

We are actively looking for organizers all over the world and invite all forms of participation. While we offer model action plans, even a simple leafleting outside of an establishment that promotes violence can be an important contribution to this campaign! It's easy to plan an action, and we will guide you through the process and send you materials, if you have need. Contact us via facebook or at dxe [at] if you'd like to join.

While, in the US, many activists focus on Chipotle -- perhaps the fastest growing, and most deceptive, animal killer in the world -- we encourage protests at other locations where animals are used and killed. Solidarity protests have been held at other fast food chains, grocery stores, department stores ("It's not Beauty. It's Violence."), and countless other establishments that profit off of atrocities against animals.

Our campaign has one and only one message: that every animal (human or non-human) has an equal right to be safe, happy, and free.

WHY CHIPOTLE? ( (Please use this talk and the slides freely. We encourage folks to give similar presentations.)

This month, many of our organizers will be participating in the DxE Forum in the Bay Area. See details here:

Even if you are participating in the Forum, we encourage you to try to get an action planned in your local area -- perhaps a week before or the week after the DxE Forum.

Direct Action Everywhere’s mission is to empower activists to take strong and confident action wherever animals are being denigrated, enslaved, or killed, and create a world where animal liberation is a reality. We use creative nonviolent protest to tell the animals’ story. We are not afraid to push boundaries and even polarize the debate. We integrate the latest technology and most innovative research to most effectively advocate for the liberation of our animal friends. And we use the power of an open and welcoming community to make all of us more inspired and confident activists.

In 2013, we executed an international march with the Earthlings Coalition, which rallied thousands of activists in 41 cities in 17 countries around the world (
