Keep building momentum for the Gill Tract!
Thank you for signing the petition for a Food Initiative on the Gill Tract Farm!
In our first week, we have received over 600 signatures urging the UC to halt the current development plan for the Gill Tract Farm and enter into a collaborative design process with students and community for the entire Gill Tract Farm, but WE NEED YOUR HELP to keep spreading this petition, and building up to 1000 signatures before our meeting with Vice Chancellor LaLanne next Wednesday, May 7th to show the growing support for this initiative. http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/a-food-initiative-on
The Community Farm Day at the Gill Tract this past Saturday was an overwhelming success with hundreds of students, community members, and families all coming together to plant, play, eat, learn and build community. Plants are growing, and roots are digging into this new ground. The beautiful success of the project in Area A highlights the enormous potential of a Food Initiative on ALL 20 ACRES.
We have some major momentum, but the campaign is far from over. We do not yet have a guaranteed commitment that the UC will halt the development, and we have yet to hear from Chancellor Dirks, the UC Regents, or President Napolitano.
Please help us spread the word, to get up to 1000 signatures by next Wednesday!
