Wise Latinas: Writers on Higher Education

Bay Area launch of a new anthology, Wise Latinas: Writers on Higher Education. The book is a collection of essays by Latina writers that aims to discuss the various experiences Latinas encounter when pursuing higher education. Our goal is tell stories that can illuminate and inspire readers and while the focus is on Latinas the topics, themes and stories would appeal to a board audience.

For some Latinas, college, where they are vastly underrepresented, is the first time they are immersed in American culture outside their homes—and where the values of two cultures often clash. Wise Latinas: Writers on Higher Education is an anthology exploring this experience. This event will feature four Bay Area based contributors to anthology — Blanca Torres, Ingrid Rojas Contreras, Erika Martinez and Yalitza Ferreras.
