SF Shopping Center Knock-off displacement walking tour

Date:
Saturday, March 15, 2014
Time:
9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Event Type:
Critical Mass
Organizer/Author:
David Giesen
Location Details:
312 Mason Street
SF, CA 94105

Did you know that the land under the San Francisco Shopping Center (5th and Market) is owned by the public? All the rent from that site helps pay for the education of SF school kids!

Extend that model across all of San Francisco and we'd raise $20B a year.

That would end land speculation. Raise hoards of revenue for all the public infrastructure now out there. End mortgages on land values. And settle the displacement crisis.

Walk starts at the American Youth Hostel.

Come along on a walking tour that traces the history of SF social movements, leading up to the born-in-SF-way-back-when proposal to socialize land values big time.

Get the historic perspective informing the current high rents & displacement perspective. Or just stay home and diddle.

It's free! though donations accepted (and donated to the SF Coalition on Homelessness).
