The Bulb is a former land fill in the city of Albany, California. Since the 1990s people who might otherwise be homeless have built elaborate shelters there. Living in the natural landscape of the bulb is therapeutic for its inhabitants and helps them transition back to a healthy and independent lifestyle. Perhaps the most impressive dwelling belongs to Boxing Bob. His mansion features three stories, a walk in closet, and a patio. Boxing Bob was very hospitable and invited me in. Later we went to Sizzler because Bob hadn't eaten for several days.
