Book Celebration for THE GAZA KITCHEN, A Palestinian Culinary Journey
By Laila El-Haddad & Maggie Schmitt
Richly-illustrated winner of a 2013 Gourmand Cookbook Award! Event includes stories by Laila and Maggie, book-signing -- and bite-sized treats from the book's recipes!
"This splendid book will make your mouth water and show you the wonders of a rich yet simple cuisine undimmed by years of a cruel and pointless siege. A tribute to its authors and a celebration of Gaza's brave and undaunted people." - Ghada Karmi
"Rare insight into the intimate everyday lives of engaging people who...raise pigeons and rabbits on their roof tops even as they lament their predicament." -Claudia Roden
"Old school in the best possible meaning of the term." -Anthony Bourdain
Laila El-Haddad is author of "Gaza Mom: Palestine, Politics, Parenting, and Everything in Between." Maggie Schmitt is a writer, researcher and translator.
This event is wheelchair accessible and is a benefit for MECA's projects in Palestine.
