Talks and conversation with:

Carroll L. Estes, Ph.D., Founder and Former Director of the UCSF Institute for Health & Aging, Professor Emerita, UCSF School of Nursing, Board Chair of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare Foundation, and

Jodi Reid, Director of the California Alliance for Retired Americans (CARA)

Carroll Estes will also discuss her report on Social Security’s vital role in saving women, particularly low-income and minority women, from poverty, and what changes are needed to overcome women’s disadvantages in Social Security due to their time out of the workforce caring for children, family members etc. Read more on this report: http://tinyurl.com/qx97ay3 .

Jodi Reid will discuss threats to Social Security and Medicare, particularly in the light of both party’s holding these programs hostage in negotiations over the Federal Budget and Debt Limit, and how seniors, people with disabilities, children, and low-income families can fight to preserve and improve these programs.
